Ministry of Consolation

Our Ministry of Consolation offers care for the dying, prayer for the dead and comfort for those who mourn.

Care for the Dying
Our ministry offers support during the time of sickness and dying.  The support can take many forms, including providing pastoral visits, weekly communion, a variety of resources and support with funeral arrangements.

Prayer for the Dead
The beloved dead are perpetually remembered through prayer and worship.  Special liturgical celebrations throughout the year support family and friends in keeping their deceased loved ones within the circle of the living. Please visit our calendar of events for upcoming celebrations.

Comfort for Those Who Mourn
We offer comprehensive funeral planning and coordination of services for both pre-need and at-need circumstances. Additional supports are coordinated for the bereaved in the days following the death, based on identified needs.  These can include help with meal preparation, child care, transportation and sitting with the bereaved.

Members of our Funeral Support Ministry assist with funeral liturgies and other liturgical celebrations within the context of Hospitality to support the bereaved.

Come Journey Through Your Grief… Our bereavement process offers participants the opportunity to connect with others who are journeying through loss, in a supportive and caring environment. Through the lens of faith, participants explore the many facets of grief and the challenges associated with engaging in a new reality following the loss of a loved one.

Our bereavement process also offers support to those experiencing other types of loss, including the challenges of being a caregiver, coping when a loved one is dying and adjusting to various life-changing events.

Our resource library is open to all members of the Catholic community.  We carry a variety of materials to support the grief process.  Please contact our office for additional information on these resources.

Informative Presentations to Members of the Catholic Community
Ongoing presentations are offered throughout the year on topics that support the members of the Catholic community in deepening their understanding on the teaching of the Catholic Church on a variety of subjects, including the rituals surrounding death, the treatment of cremated remains and other end-of-life issues.  Please visit our calendar of events for additional information on these presentations.
