Bereavement Process
Living Waters Columbarium is pleased to offer a Bereavement process within its Ministry of Consolation. In our society, support for families frequently ends shortly after the funeral rituals are over. Yet the mourning for the deceased loved one continues well past the first anniversary of that person’s death. Grief is a normal and natural reaction to loss, and it is necessary to the healing process. While grief is unique to each person, there are some similarities. Grief affects us emotionally,
This spring we are pleased to offer an eight week process:
From History to Mystery… A Journey of Faith.
This process, rooted in Catholic tradition, conveys God’s consolation through scripture, prayer, reflection, and the sharing of our faith. Participants connect with others who are journeying through loss, in a supportive and caring environment, to explore the various facets of grief and the challenges associated to engaging in a new reality following the death of a loved one.
Many grievers attempt to grieve alone. However, grief needs to be shared, and those who grieve need to be reassured that they are not alone in their thoughts, feelings and responses in day to day situations. The support and encouragement of the group will enable you to give voice to your unique journey and take a step toward healing and spiritual growth.
When should you begin – immediately or further down the road? While it is recommended to wait at least three months before participating in a bereavement process, the ‘right’ timing varies from one person to the next, and can be beneficial even years after the loss. Listen to your heart and explore the opportunities before you.
